I work for a non-profit in San Francisco that helps adults with kids and families get off of drugs and rebuild their lives. About 35% of the people who come into our programs come straight from a jail, prison, or hospital and have no clothing excpet for what is on their backs. We want to start a clothes closet, so that when these people arrive, we have at least one new set of clothes for them. Unfortunately, we can’t take old clothes because we had a bed bug infestation that was traced to a bag of donated clothes.
So, other than calling up Target and such and asking for donations of new clothes or gift cards, do you have any ideas?
It’ll earn you some good karma points in addition to your Yahoo Answers points if you have a good, plausible suggestion!! = )

Need help computing these mortgage questions. I’m not just looking for answers. A formula to compute would help a lot. Thanks
An “interest only” mortgage is made for $80,000 at 12% for 10 years. The lender and borrower agree that monthly payments will be constant and will require no loan amortization. What will be the loan balance after 5 years?
You are going to borrow $250,000 for the purchase of you new home. The loan requires that you pay two points in origination fees when you acquire the new house at close. How much money does the lender bring to the closing?
A constant payment, fully amortizing mortgage loan is made for $100000 at 8% for 30 years. If the payment per period is $169.23, how often are payments made? (are they made monthly or weekly? not sure how to figure it out.)
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have a power wheelchair that is no longer suitable for me. I have recently gotten a new one.
What the difficulty is, is that these chairs are built so specifically for the intended user that they are hard to sell.
I would like to donate it, but a few places I have checked with won’t take it. (It needs new batteries)
I am open for any suggestions on places to donate.

Palin says shes donating her new clothes to “charity”. Does that mean there will be bums walking around the streets of Anchorage with $6000 suits from Saks Fifth Ave? Or will there be a new charity set up for all the down and out republicans who are going to lose their congressional seats after the elections?

I would like to speak with a professional person because I need advice regarding a financial problem. I’m not even sure what the title would be, and how i would find such a person? Please answer me if you can help me and I will be really grateful… I know this might seem like an ignorant question but finance isn’t my field and I worry about people trying to take advantage of me (people suck sometimes)
If you can help me thanks!

Say I wanted to set up a venture that would collect and distribute funds to individuals or families who needed extra help in times of need. Are there tax implications for these types of donations (maybe a certain threshold whereby donations become taxable)? Is this legal? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
