I finished applying for financial aid on September 2nd. Being really broke and recently laid off I am in desperate need of money but I have not heard word from anyone for almost 2 months now. I asked the financial aid office at school and I was told it should take one and a half months but that has past. What should I do?

I am a senior in college. My current major is elementary education and I want to change it to Computer Information Systems. I am wanting to know how many hours does financial aid (FAFSA) pay for until it stops. Does anybody know? I am having trouble finding the information I need on the internet.

Well I live in NYC and im interested in transferring to an upstate NY school (Ithaca College, Skidmore, Geneseo, St Lawrence, etc), has anyone had any experience with financial aid packages they’ve received as a transfer student? Like do you receive the same aid package as if you had applied as a first year student or is the aid usually less than if you had applied as an incoming freshman? Thanks!

I am currently going to a community college and got $3500 in grants. I will only be using around $1000. I am hoping to transfer to a pretty expensive school in January. Will I be able to use the rest of my grant money at the other school that I transfer to in January? Because I really can’t afford to pay for either school out of pocket. I called the school I want to transfer to and they told me it would affect my financial aid, but that is the only information they would give me.

I recently applied for financial aid for school. I received an email back with a EFC = expected family contribution and it said 00.00 . As far as I understand that means that I will not have to contribute anything for school..correct? My only question is where do I go from here? Do you receive something in the mail confirming this, how do you get the money? Is anyone familiar with this process? Thank you –

i have never completely understood the deal with financial aid, like how do i get it? if i qualify, do i have to pay it back or is it like a scholarship? is it a type of loan? that is what i don’t understand. also, if i get financial aid, can i get screwed in some way?

I was convicted (marijuana) in 2006 and released in early 2008. I’ve never gotten financial aid or any grants and now could really use them to keep my life on track and make a brighter future possible. I live in MN and have maintained a job since my release.
