How Do I Go About Donating Unused Airline Miles To Charity?
I would like to know if anyone has a specific need for them,i.e., for a angel flight for a sick child or just for a child or adult who may be in serious need of the airline miles.I would also like to know if donating these miles is tax deductible. Thanks

Just teasin.
Dear tdlayne,
What a noble, selfless gift you are offering!
Contact the charity of choice and tell them what you would like to do. They will tell you how to go about making your donation.
The miles are certainly tax deductible and an average on flight costs is an acceptable amount.
Make absolutely sure that the charity provides a full, market value receipt on THEIR LETTERHEAD with not only the fair market value, but their tax identification number (38) on this letter. (In 2007, the Internal Revenue Service rules for all charities were tightened, making this a requirment.)
You are wonderful to think of these kids!
May you enjoy life’s blessings.
Try to contact the Angel flight. you should be able to get the information from an airlines. This is a group that helps when people need to fly somewhere for an emergency and they can’t afford it. Example: I had a customer that his mother was dying in Mexico and he was the only child. He wanted to be with her, but could not afford the plane ticket. they paid for it (both ways) He responsibility was to show proof of his mothers Illness/death. And he was never asked to produce anything else.
Good Luck
