I would NEVER throw clothes away, but I’m kinda a germ freak. I’m a little scared that if I donate old clothes it will spread germs. So is donating the best thing to do, or is there something better? If there is please tell me!!!

If a charity is collecting shoes or other articles of clothing to send overseas to people in need, how do they arrange to (1) send the items and (2) make sure they are properly distributed?

I am keen to understand why some people would donate money and others would not. As an investor and development practitioner, it is important to know the rationale of GIVING globally. I know that $10 a month could make a world of difference in the world we work, but why is it so difficult to convince those who have it, but would rather spend it on something else…??? Any ideas?
If I ask you to donate $10 a month to help an unemployed parent to keep a child at school, WOULD you?? If not, why not…. If yes, lets talk.
If you had a choice, would you give your time and expertise (volunteer) or your money?

I’m an atheist, but my family is under the impression that I’m still religious. I can’t seem to get it through to them that I dont believe in God. Anywho, its forbidden to donate blood or organs in my former religion. Im on the donor list, but I think they might prevent a transplant should I die.
You guys facing something like? Thoughts?

I have older clothing here (fairly new, but came out in ‘97-99) and perhaps some small furniture, like a TV and a shelf.. if I decide to donate these items, how does it help me? Do I receive anything for them?
