Plasma

Don’t get righteous on me because you think I only want to do it for the money. I’m just curious. I also want to do it because it saves lives. Only answer if you truly know.

I was looking into “donating” plasma and wondered how much it paid. Is the money they pay you taxed? Thanks!

I called my local BioLife center and they told me that you are given a card for donating plasma.
How does that work?
Is there a certain amount of money on the card that you can use at places like Target and Wal- Mart to buy stuff?

I was wondering if they check for marijuana when donating plasma (I was told this)
I have given blood (red cross) numberous times and was never check or asked about using marijuana.
It just don’t make sense why they would check if donating plasma and not when donating whole blood.

Thinking about donating plasma but I’m kinda scared lol. What are the risks? Also will I feel crappy after I do it? I read on their website that they put the red blood cells back in your body after they take the plasma out but wouldn’t the blood be really thick then?

I’m a college student who recently started to donate plasma for a little extra money. I’m donating around 1600mL of plasma a week and found one article online saying that there can be long term (negative) effects. It cited German (I think) where one can only donate twice a month as apossed to twice a week here. Most websites say there is no problem with it and cite the FDA but I have not seen a single conclusive study yet. Thanks for the help.
