Where Can I Go To Get Donations For A Benefit ...
We are having a benefit for a friend of ours that was recently dianosed with cancer. We are looking for donations for door prizes, raffles and auctions. The money we raise will go towards medical costs as he has no health insurance. If anyone knows where we can get donations for the door prizes, raffles and auctions please respond

So sorry to hear of your friend’s affliction.
You, of course have tried the Nat’l Cancer Society. Depending on your friend’s age, different non-profits are out there to help. They are Target Groups!
You didn’t mention the State – that’s important as different State’s have different agencies geared up to help those like your friend. Pick up your Yellow Pages, look up cancer, associations, organizations, non-profits etc. There are so many organizations out there, the Moose, the Elks, the Lions, the Masons, Jobs Daughters and these are just a few of the private ones. The state and Feds have oodles more.
So, there is help from docs and the pharma industry, but the best help of all comes from folks like you who love and care.
Share that, unconditionally, with your friend. And, despite all intervention, if your friend goes to the other side, let it be done with the knowledge that he/she was loved by those waiting to follow.
Good Luck,
Dooner George
Hi, great to see you doing something to help!
How about:
-what are his interests? Is he an athlete? Try the large sporting goods stores. Does he love basketball? Try the teams in your city. Does he cook? Try the restaurants.
Small companies are your best bets as they don’t have to abide by a corporate donation policy, and are often very involved in community things like this.
-what about where he works? What do they do, and would the staff be interested in donating items/funds?
-try a human interest reporter at your local newspaper. If you can get the story in the paper, you’ll generate lots of interest in donations and attendance.
-any “crafty” people in your group? Homemade items are great!
-does he attend church regularly? How about church friends?
Hope that helps!
